Do you know the most common bra band size range that women today should be wearing for their body shape? The most common size range sold here in the U.S. in stores like Victoria Secrets is sizes 34, 36, 38, 40, and 42. These sizes are found everywhere but the truth my surprise you.
The most common body sizes in the U.S. are the band size range 26, 28, 30, 32, 34, and 36. A person who wears properly a bra size 34 because of the size of their back with no breast tissue in the band (because that belongs in the cup part of the bra) wears a size 14- 16 shirt size and none of that will be because she has large breasts. She's a 14/16 shirt size because her back size and around her band measures 34". Note if a woman who wears a size 6 puts on comfortably a 34 size bra it is because she is holding it up with breast tissue that has moved around the width of her body from lack of proper support. (That's where underarm "fat" comes from...) So there's a great chance that you'll need to get a larger cup size if you need to be in a smaller band size so you can keep all the breast tissue on the front of your body and not look as boxy and wide. The right size can make you look like you lost as much as 20 pounds, instantly!
So why does everyone sell the wrong sizes? Well, mostly because they can and still make billions. They make billions of dollars each year keeping women in the dark about bras. Instead of making bras that fit our bodies they continue what they've done for the past 100 years and fit women into the bra sizes that they make. This is why rarely two bras will fit the same and no two "fit experts" will size you the same. There is so much misinformation that the bra world can be a harsh and confusing place.
